Scottish Premiership: Joe Garner wins it late for Rangers at Partick
Monday 8 May 2017 09:27, UK
Rangers struck twice late on through substitute Barrie McKay and Joe Garner to snatch a dramatic 2-1 victory against Partick at sun-kissed Firhill.
Pedro Caixinha's hopes of a tonic after two chastening defeats to Celtic in the Cup and the league looked to be slipping away on the back of Kris Doolan's 15th goal of the season.
But Thistle's dream of a first victory over a Rangers side since 1993 were dashed by McKay's composed finish (83) and Garner's header in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
Rangers' bright start matched the fine weather but they were hit by the classic counter as Doolan stooped to meet Christie Elliott's cross and his bullet header flew past Wes Foderingham.
Elliott went close from distance while Ryan Edwards was denied by a brave block from Foderingham as the home side grew in confidence.

Danny Wilson threatened an equaliser with a glancing header from James Tavernier's free-kick but the visitors continued to live dangerously at the back, Doolan spurning a gilt-edged chance to double the lead with a free header.
Foderingham again came to the rescue to deny Steven Lawless while Garner blazed over at the other end.
McKay then stepped off the bench to give Rangers' attack an added edge and he was to poke home the equaliser before Garner rose to meet Kenny Miller's floated cross deep in stoppage time to complete the turnaround.
