Orlando City 4-1 Portland Timbers: Kaka inspires win for Orlando

Kaka scored and provided two assists as Orlando City eased to a 4-1 win over reigning MLS champions Portland Timbers at the Citrus Bowl on Sunday.

The Brazil World Cup winner, who missed the first three games of the season because of a thigh injury, set up two goals in the opening 32 minutes before getting on the scoresheet himself just after half-time. 

Orlando opened the scoring when former Middlesbrough defender Seb Hines (13) headed a Kaka free-kick beyond Portland goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey.

United States international Brek Shea (32) then doubled the home side's lead when he exchanged passes with Kaka before sending a left-footed shot into the top corner. 

Portland had a chance to cut Orlando's lead just before half-time after Shea was penalised for a handball in the 42nd minute.  

However, Portland forward Fanendo Adi failed to take advantage, with Joe Bendik producing the save to deny him. 

His failure to convert from 12-yards proved costly, with Kaka (48) slotting home before the game was put beyond Portland when Kevin Molino (78) dispatched his penalty past Kwarasey.

Portland substitute Jack McInerney (89) scored a late consolation goal for the Timbers when he poked home from close range. 

The loss extended a disappointing start to the campaign for Portland, who have suffered two defeats and picked up a draw since winning their season opener, and are ninth in the Western Conference.

Orlando continued their unbeaten start to the season and lead the Eastern Conference on eight points after winning for the second consecutive game following two draws.
