Bristol Rovers extended their unbeaten run to five games as they picked up a point in the 0-0 stalemate at Northampton.

Both sides had chances to win it but the two goalkeepers Matt Duke and Steve Mildenhall were on top form at either end. The Cobblers created a couple of early chances as Chris Hackett saw his effort saved by Mildenhall, who also did well to deny Emile Sinclair. In-between Duke denied Dave Clarkson with a fine stop and Tom Parkes also went close for Rovers when he headed wide from a corner. Darren Carter saw his goal-bound effort blocked as the hosts looked for the breakthrough but Rovers had the better chances late in the first half. Top scorer John-Joe O'Toole had a shot repelled before seeing another try miss the target while Parkes saw his speculative long-range effort fly over. Ollie Clarke was denied by Duke after the restart and Kaid Mohamed shot wide as the visitors picked up from where they left off. Meanwhile Brennan Dickenson was off target for Northampton but it took another good stop from Duke to thwart Clarkson while Parkes had a header blocked. Duke denied Clarke and Mohamed shot wide while substitute John Marquis tested Mildenhall with Ricky Ravenhill also off target as both sides sought the winner. There were a couple of late chances at either end to win it, substitute Steven Gillespie almost stole the points for Rovers when he shot just over from the edge of the box while Marquis was denied by Mildenhall again.
