As the Copa America comes to an end, we look at the stats to see which players have starred in this year's tournament.
Below are the top-ranking XI according to WhoScored.com's stat-based rating system. What do you make of this XI? Get in touch @SkyFootball or @WhoScored
Playing on home soil certainly seems to have an effect on teams at major international tournaments, with host nations tending to either raise their game or collapse under the weight of expectation.
For Chile it was certainly a case of the former and though they were among the favourites to lift the Copa America trophy - doing so for the first time in their history - Saturday's penalty shoot-out win over Argentina was still an upset given their opponents performance in the semi-final.
However, few could argue that Jorge Sampaoli's side were not worthy winners over the course of the tournament. They started the strongest of the apparent big hitters in the group stages, with beaten finalists Argentina, along with Brazil and Colombia, struggling to exert any real dominance.
That Chile ended the tournament with four representatives in the WhoScored.com team of the tournament and Argentina boasted three suggests that they were certainly worthy finalists.
Claudio Bravo, Chile - WhoScored rating - 7.17
The 32-year old kept four clean sheets over Chile's six matches, including a crucial shut out in the final, saving an Ever Banega penalty in the shoot-out to hand Alexis Sanchez the chance to secure the trophy.
The Barcelona keeper was only forced into 13 saves during the tournament but no player to make more than two appearances averaged more successful claims from crosses per game (2.5).
Dani Alves, Brazil - WhoScored rating - 7.64
He may have only got the call-up to the Brazil squad days before the Copa America began courtesy of an injury to Danilo, but Alves was in fine form in Chile, showing just why Barcelona chose to renew his contract ahead of the summer.
As the Selecao suffered another humiliating exit from a major international tournament, Alves was one of a handful of players that could hold his head high, registering two assists as well as impressive averages of 3.5 tackles and 2.3 key passes per game for a rating of 7.64.
Jeison Murillo, Colombia - WhoScored rating - 7.63
It's a talented, young centre-back pairing of new Inter recruit Murillo and Atletico's Gimenez - whose rapid development has forced ex-clubmate Miranda out of the club to join the Colombian at San Siro. The former scored his side's only goal of the tournament as Jose Pekerman's men failed miserably to live up to expectations.
Murillo certainly did, however, garnering a score of 7.63 having made at least six more interceptions (19) than any other player, despite being knocked out in the quarter-finals.
Gimenez, Uruguay - WhoScored rating - 7.51
Gimenez was also on the scoresheet, opening the scoring in Uruguay's final group game with Paraguay, and had a hand in both of Oscar Tabarez's side's goals in the tournament as they put up a pretty dismal attempt of retaining their crown from 2011.
The 20-year old secured an impressive individual rating of 7.51 regardless, having averaged 2.8 tackles and won 3.8 aerial duels per game.
Marcos Rojo, Argentina - WhoScored rating - 7.27
Completing the back four is Manchester United and Argentina's Rojo, who netted in a 6-1 rout over Paraguay in the semi-final, while only two players made more tackles at the tournament (19).
Angel Di Maria, Argentina - WhoScored rating - 7.90
His United teammate Di Maria takes his place in front of the left-back, having been the only player to pick up more than one goal (2) and one assist (2) in Chile this summer.
The 27-year old had a starring role in the aforementioned semi-final victory and was one of only two players to pick up more than one man of the match award from WhoScored at the tournament, with an average rating of 7.90 over his six appearances.
Lionel Messi, Argentina - WhoScored rating - 8.43
Compatriot Messi may not have lit-up the tournament in terms of his goals, netting just once, but he still stood head and shoulders above the rest in a number of statistical categories.
Only one other player could match his tally of three assists at the tournament, with the Argentina captain competing at least 18 more dribbles (43) than closest challenger Sanchez, as well as being fouled more times than any other player (28) for a tournament-high rating of 8.43 from WhoScored.com.
Charles Aranguiz, Chile - WhoScored rating - 7.59
It was always likely that Chile's bid to secure their first Copa crown would rely on the hard graft of their midfield and that certainly proved to be the case.
Aranguiz will have attracted further interest after an impressive World Cup showing last year and earned the man of the match award from WhoScored in the final with a rating of 8.36. His all-action style led to averages of 2.7 tackles and 2.3 key passes, as well as weighing in with two goals in a 5-0 drubbing of Bolivia for an overall score of 7.59.
Arturo Vidal, Chile - WhoScored rating - 7.80
The Internacional midfielder is joined by fellow countryman Vidal, who started every game at the tournament despite being arrested for drink driving during the group stages.
The Juventus man is another player linked with a summer move and put himself in the shop window with three goals and an assist, averaging 3.5 shots and 58 passes per game to earn a rating of 7.80.
Alexis Sanchez, Chile, WhoScored rating - 7.40
Sanchez was the man to eventually seal glory for the hosts in the final shoot-out having registered a goal and an assist on route to the showdown with Argentina. He ranked second to Messi in both dribbles and shots (22) to pick up a WhoScored rating of 7.40, as well as the man of the match award in the tournament opener with Ecuador.
Jose Paolo Guerrero, Peru, WhoScored rating - 7.49
Completing the XI is Peru front man Guerrero, with no player netting more goals at the tournament (4) for the second edition running, picking up the Golden Boot in 2011 having gone one better with a tally of five.
The 31-year old won the most aerial duels in Chile (27) and was able to relieve the pressure for his side on a way to second successive third-placed finish, with only Messi drawing more fouls (26), all for a rating of 7.49.
