Northern Ireland's football bosses are awaiting a report into suspected structural damage to a stand at Windsor Park.

Engineers inspected Linfield's home in Belfast after cracks were spotted in the West Stand - one of two remaining as redevelopment work on the stadium continues.

Windsor Park hosted Northern Ireland's European Qualifier against Finland on Sunday and is the scheduled venue for June's meeting with Group F leaders Romania.

It is too early to say whether the damage to the stand will affect that game, and an Irish Football Association spokesman told the Belfast Telegraph: "The Irish FA became aware on Tuesday morning of some damage having been caused overnight to the West Stand.

"The association is currently awaiting a report from the structural engineers."

More from European Qualifiers

Work to increase the stadium's capacity from 14,000 to 18,000 is due to finish in October this year.
