Kelvin Davis ready for spell in Southampton team after Fraser Forster injured
Saturday 21 March 2015 22:33, UK
Kelvin Davis says he is ready to wear the No 1 jersey at Southampton should their regular first choice keeper Fraser Forster be sidelined for the next few weeks.
Davis was called into action during the first half of Saturday's Premier League clash with Burnley at St Mary’s which ended in a 2-0 victory for the hosts.
Forster left the park inside 15 minutes, which meant Davis experienced his first taste of first team football since February of last year.

Davis told Sky Sports News HQ: “It is difficult coming on like that and you have to try and stay focused and be ready but I got a fantastic reception from the fans as I came on so that kind of warmed me up a little bit if you like.
“I felt ready to play as soon as I came on the pitch so I was pleased.
“I’ve tried to stay fit and healthy and be ready for the opportunity if it came along and being in the position I am in it’s just great to be in a position to contribute this season.”
As for Forster’s injury, Davis added: “I don’t have any details about Fraser’s injury other than it was serious enough for him to leave the pitch.
“And knowing Fraser, as I do, he wouldn’t come off lightly so our thoughts are with him and hopefully he will have a speedy recovery.
“He’s a great asset for us and he’s been in fantastic form so he will be a player that we will miss if he does miss the rest of the season."
