Rudi Garcia suffered more misery as his struggling Roma side were blitzed 3-0 by Fiorentina in the last 16 of the Europa League.

Roma, who have now won just one of their last eight games in all competitions, held a slender edge over their Serie A counterparts after claiming a 1-1 draw in first leg of the tie but threw away their slight advantage in a lacklustre first 45 minutes of the second leg.

Gonzalo Rodriguez opened the scoring from the penalty spot before two defensive errors handed further goals to Marcos Alonso and Jose Basanta.

Napoli will join Fiorentina in the quarter-finals after a hard-fought goalless draw against Dinamo Moscow in Russia.

The Italians held a 3-1 lead from the first leg and that proved sufficient.

It was still an entertaining encounter despite the lack of goals with Napoli hitting the woodwork twice through Dries Mertens and Jose Maria Callejon.

Following Dynamo Kiev’s qualification against Everton earlier in the evening, Dnipro’s victory over Ajax means that two Ukrainian teams will be in the last eight.

Dnipro held a 1-0 lead going into the second leg but Riechedly Bazoer forced extra-time for the Dutch giants.

However, the visitors rallied in added time and Ukraine international Yevhen Konoplyanka bagged the crucial strike on 97 minutes. Mike van der Hoorn netted a late strike for Ajax but it wasn’t enough as Dnipro progressed on away goals.

Nicklas Bendtner scored the winner as Wolfsburg followed up their 3-1 win over Inter Milan in the first leg with a 2-1 victory at the San Siro to seal their spot in the last eight.

Daniel Caligiuri fired the Bundesliga outfit in front before Rodrigo Palacio levelled things on the night to give Roberto Mancini's men hope, but Bendtner scored in the 89th minute to win on the night and take a 5-2 aggregate victory.

Sevilla won an all-Spanish battle as they beat 10-man Villarreal 2-1 to seal victory in the tie by a 5-2 aggregate scoreline.

Vicente Iborra tapped the hosts in front but Giovani dos Santos levelled things just four minutes later. Eric Bertrand Bailly was then sent off for a second yellow card before Denis Suarez nodded in to confirm Sevilla's place in the last eight.

Andre Villas Boas guided Zenit into the last eight after they beat Torino 2-1 on aggregate but did survive a scare in the final minutes of their second leg 1-0 defeat.

The Russian league leaders conceded in the final moments when Kamil Glik found the net and only a dramatic late clearance off the line saved Zenit from playing extra-time

Club Brugge have made it to the quarter-finals of UEFA competition for the first time in 20 years as they staged a fantastic second half comeback to beat Beşiktaş 3-1 in Instanbul.

Holding a 2-1 advantage from the first leg, the Belgians fell behind to Ramon Motta’s fierce strike but second half goals from Tom De Sutter and a brace from Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo silenced the home crowd and sent the visitors through.
