Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino believes his side are starting to play the way he wants after their 2-1 win over Everton on Sunday.
Goals from Christian Eriksen and Roberto Soldado turned things around for Spurs after they fell behind to Kevin Mirallas’ early opener.
The hosts dominated possession for large spells of the game and put plenty of pressure on their opponents – something Pochettino was delighted to see from his players.
"Today was a very important victory and I have to congratulate my players and the supporters too," he said. "Today was fantastic on the pitch. We are very happy.
"You always need the time to set your philosophy. It's a big three points for us.
"Coming from behind showed we had character and personality - this is important. It was difficult in the beginning but we played aggressively and started to show our style.
"We need to be aggressive with and without the ball and we showed that today. We displayed the right intensity to win.
"Today is a good example of what we want in the future. I showed my emotion because I know our players and supporters have been through a lot. We need to keep this mentality and try to show it in the next game."
Everton had a late claim for a penalty after the ball appeared to strike Federico Fazio’s arm from Romelu Lukaku’s header, but referee Michael Oliver chose not to award the spot kick.
Pochettino's opposite number Roberto Martinez was adamant his side should have been given the chance to level in stoppage time, but the Spurs boss disagrees.
He said: "I didn’t see their penalty claim at the time, but after seeing it on the TV it was not a penalty."
