West Ham manager Sam Allardyce felt his side was let down by some poor officiating by referee Jon Moss as they were forced to settle for a goalless draw at home to Aston Villa.
The Hammers' winning home run came to a halt although they remain unbeaten in five Premier League games as they inched above Arsenal into fourth place with the point.
Allardyce was upset with his side's profligacy in front of goal as they failed to take their chances but was more annoyed by some of the decisions from the man in the middle.
"I think that the amount of chances that we created today was excellent," he told Sky Sports. "The quality of finishing on occasions was exceptionally good but unfortunately the goalkeeper of Aston Villa (Brad Guzan) was in a fantastic mood for not letting any goals in today.
"For us it's so disappointing after creating so many chances at home and I think our downfall was our cutting edge in front of goal - that was all that was missing.
"When we needed a little bit of help from the referee but he turned us down today and going into the last throws of the game there was a definite penalty on Alex Song - there's no doubt about that.
"There's also a handball off a corner where the centre half puts his hands over his head. I think (Nathan) Baker comes off injured, but if anything it's a foul on Carlton Cole, not Carlton Cole fouling Baker so that's a penalty.
"There was also an obstruction on Andy Carroll right on the edge of the box - so they all might have made the difference as well as the chances we created so we're disappointed both ways.
"I thought Jon Moss had handled the game really well, but when the pressure came on Villa, I though the goalkeeper handled it well but I didn't think the referee did."
