Premier League: Match-winner Harry Kane reflects on Spurs win at Aston Villa

Harry Kane savoured his man-of-the-match performance after stepping off the bench to inspire Tottenham's 2-1 victory over Aston Villa.

Kane's deflected last-gasp free-kick snatched all three points for the visitors after Nacer Chadli had equalised with just five minutes remaining in a bad-tempered contest.

Villa were clinging onto a 1-0 lead following their first goal in over five games, Andreas Weimann stabbing in Charles N'Zogbia's cross in the 15th minute, but their task was made harder when Christian Benteke was dismissed for pushing Ryan Mason in the face midway through the second half.

But after Erik Lamela's corner was converted by Chadli, Kane's 20-yard free-kick was diverted into the net by Nathan Baker in the Villa wall with Brad Guzan wrong-footed.

To be 1-0 down in an important game for us, we needed a win and to pull it back there at the end is a moment I won't forget.

Kane, who was introduced as a substitute on the hour mark, told Sky Sports 1: "Without a doubt it was one of the greatest moments for me in a Spurs shirt in my career so far.

"To be 1-0 down in an important game for us, we needed a win and to pull it back there at the end is a moment I won't forget.

"When I went on the manager said there's plenty of time left, to be getting on the ball, you'll get some chances so take one and obviously fortunately I was able to do that and it's all smiles in the dressing room now."

As for taking the 89th-minute free-kick, Kane added: "Erik Lamela wanted it and he'd taken the one before, but I said 'this one can be mine' and obviously it ended up in the back of the net and it was great - a great result."
