Leicester boss Nigel Pearson admitted his side needed to show more quality in front of goal after a 1-0 loss at Newcastle.
The Foxes looked to be heading for a point at St James', but Gabriel Obertan's fine strike snatched victory for the home side late in the match.
The result sees Pearson's men remain in 13th, but since their fantastic victory over Manchester United, Leicester have picked up just one point from three games against teams they may well be fighting against to stay in the top flight.
"You could look at it and say we were unlucky, but we had enough chances to put them under more pressure," Pearson told Sky Sports.
"Our quality let us down in terms of finishing those chances.

"It is frustrating but we can take positives from the game and see that we can compete."
Meanwhile, both managers insisted the delay as engineers worked to secure dressing panels around the 60m screen at St James' Park had not affected their players.
"The players were all very relaxed about that," Pearson added.
"Both sets of players dealt with the situation very well, as did the club and the officials.
"There was no friction at all. Sometimes these things happen and you have got to deal with them.''
