Premier League: West Brom boss Alan Irvine delighted with 1-0 win at Tottenham
Monday 22 September 2014 15:10, UK
West Bromwich Albion boss Alan Irvine was delighted with his side and believed they deserved the win after beating Tottenham 1-0.
James Morrison’s 74th-minute header proved to be the difference as West Brom collected their first win of the season and a first White Hart Lane victory since 1984.
The Baggies were good value for the three points after Joleon Lescott saw a first-half strike blocked by team-mate Craig Dawson and Saido Berahino had a goal ruled out for offside.
But Irvine admitted it was a nervy finale as he waited for his first three points since taking charge this summer.
"I was pleased to hear the final whistle go, that is for sure, because those last four minutes seemed to take an awful long time to go by," he told Sky Sports.

"I am delighted for the players. Relief is not the overriding emotion - the overriding emotion is definitely delight for the players.
"They have deserved that. They have worked extremely hard since I first came in and they are a pleasure to work with."
Irvine's side also had appeals for a penalty waved away after Emmanuel Adebayor appeared to have handled inside the area.
"We obviously had a goal chalked off and it was a handball in the penalty area as well – which we did not get," said Irvine.
"We had one or two really good attempts that were well saved by Hugo Lloris.
"It was very pleasing to get such a good performance and such a good result at a very difficult place."
