Former Hull chairman expected to return

Phil Brown launched a scathing attack on decisions made by referee Mike Jones in Hull City's defeat to Burnley. The Tigers boss was not afraid to give his thoughts on the man in the middle who he said had four major decisions to make in a controversial game. The first goal came after Jones awarded Burnley a penalty, which Graham Alexander converted, when Stephen Hunt was said to have fouled Tyrone Mears - however a TV replay suggested the Burnley full-back tripped over his own feet. And Brown was far from happy with Geovanni's free-kick being disallowed and then having his star midfielder sent off for two bookable offences. On the decisions, he told Sky Sports: "You're not just talking about one or two here, you're talking about four. "Their penalty, our penalty when he's (Jones) played on and Kamel Ghilas has a chance with two people on the line, when you take a penalty you've got one person on the line so he allows the advantage then doesn't come back to give the penalty. Then the free-kick and then the Geovanni sending off."

No qualms

Brown said he had no qualms about Alexander's second of the game in the 77th minute but urged Jones to watch his decisions again on the television. In a tense afternoon, the Hull City boss came under scrutiny from the Burnley faithful as they sang "You're getting sacked in the morning" from the Turf Moor stands. However Brown insists he will remain at the club and is happy with his players' commitment despite their latest defeat. "Bottom line is I asked the players for a committed performance and I got one, that's all I can ask of them," he said.
Committed players
"My situation is my situation and I'm not blaming anybody else for it but me. Yes we're in a tight situation, yes we're in the bottom three, yes you need the rub of the green, yes you need a little bit of luck but you also need committed players and I think you've seen committed players today. "I expect to be manager of this football club in the Premier League next year." Adam Pearson was watching the game from the stands and Brown said he expects to be reunited with him on Monday as Hull's new chairman.
