Clarets manager prepares for trip to Eastlands
Owen Coyle praised his side's winning performance against Hull City and wants his players to take that impressive home form on their travels.
The Burnley boss highlighted 38-year-old Graham Alexander as a model professional after the defender scored from the penalty spot and fired home in the second half in his 100th appearance for the club.
The game was marred by controversy with a dubious penalty decision from Mike Jones who penalised Stephen Hunt for bringing down Tyrone Mears.
The referee later disallowed Geovanni's equaliser for a foul and then sent off the Hull midfielder for two bookable offences.
However despite the decisions, Coyle felt his side warranted the win, telling
Sky Sports: "I thought we were very deserving of the three points."
On the penalty call he said: "We've been on the end of some decisions like that this season so when they come your way you have to maximise them and Graham Alexander does what he does best and slotted it away in the corner."
Rifled
Burnley made it two in the second half when Alexander rifled in a low drive past Hull's deputising 'keeper, Matt Duke, for 2-0 for the Clarets' third clean sheet in the Premier League.
Burnley are defying the odds of being favourites for relegation having lost just once at home in the last nine months. Coyle wants his side to take that form on their travels to secure their league survival.
"We pride ourselves on clean sheets here at Turf Moor and we lost our way in that respect in the last few matches," he said.
"I felt some of the goals that we've been giving up are soft goals from our point of view, but the lads were resilient today," he said.
"We're trying to give ourselves a fighting chance. We're a proud club with a tremendous backing and now having 15 points at home its time to go on our travels and try to earn some points away from home and we start with a nice, easy one against Manchester City!
"We're ready for it, we'll rest up now and enjoy the result tonight but back on Monday morning ready to give our best."
