Super-sub Alan Gow extended Blackpool's run of score-draws to three after an injury-time thunderbolt denied Cardiff maximum points.
The Bluebirds had been on course for a well-earned win after Paul Parry outdid Blackpool keeper Paul Rachubka with a curling shot in the 83rd minute.
But Blackpool stuck at it and were rewarded when the ball fell to Gow, currently on-loan from Rangers, who drilled it home from 20 yards to nick a point five minutes into stoppage time.
Cardiff boss Dave Jones kept faith with the side that beat Coventry on Tuesday, while Simon Grayson made one change to the Blackpool side as Adam Hammill came in for the injured Claus Jorgensen.
The visitors began positively but the first meaningful chance of the match fell to Blackpool's Gary Taylor-Fletcher, who could only direct his shot straight at Heaton.
Minutes later, Heaton had to be alert once again when he pushed away Hammill's long-range effort.
Cardiff responded and almost went in front when Ledley's 20-yard shot looked to be heading for the bottom left-hand corner, but Rachubka got down well to parry the ball away.
Disallowed
Blackpool thought they had gone in front on the half-hour mark when Ben Burgess put the ball in after Steve Kabba's shot had been blocked but the assistant referee rightly ruled the goal out for offside.
Cardiff continued to press and seven minutes later a good move saw the ball break to Ledley in the area but he lacked composure and blasted over before sending another wayward shot over from Peter Whittingham's pinpoint cross.
Blackpool almost made Cardiff pay for their profligacy but David Vaughan fired wide and Shaun Barker headed straight at Heaton.
The home side started the second half well and Ian Evatt crossed for Vaughan, whose shot was blocked by Mark Kennedy on its way through to Heaton.
However, Cardiff quickly found their rhythm once again and Jay Bothroyd headed into the path of Ross McCormack, who shot straight at Rachubka.
Just after the hour mark, Blackpool failed to deal with a corner from Whittingham and the ball fell to Darren Purse, who fired just wide.
Injury blow
Cardiff suffered a blow when Ledley was forced off injured and replaced by Parry but they continued to look the stronger side with McCormack scooping the ball over from the edge of the area.
The visitors deserved to make a breakthrough and they did with only seven minutes remaining when Bothroyd broke and laid the ball off to Parry on the left, who cut inside on his right foot before firing past Rachubka.
Blackpool immediately pushed for an equaliser and laid siege to the Cardiff goal before eventually earning a share of the spoils through Gow's stunning first goal for the club deep into injury time.
