New Recreativo Huelva signing Kanga Akale has revealed the motives behind his switch to Spain.
The former Lens full-back had been the subject of interest from Premier League new-boys Stoke, but ultimately decided against a move to England.
Reports had suggested that discussions with the Potters had been held, only for Tony Pulis to fail in his attempts to land the 27-year-old.
Akale believes he would have struggled to adapt to life in England, with the Primera Liga more suited to his style of play.
"La Liga will be better for my game," he told L'Equipe.
"In England, technical players struggle if they do not play for the big four. It would have been difficult for me."
