Norwich came from behind for a share of the points against Blackpool

Norwich failed to make their dominance count in their 1-1 draw with Blackpool at Carrow Road. Striker Jamie Cureton could not apply the finishing touch as he struck the woodwork early on and passed up another couple of chances later in the match. Wes Hoolahan, John Kennedy and Arturo Lupoli also failed to hit the target from good positions while the Seasiders failed to create enough chances to take the three points. Ben Burgess looked to have made the Canaries pay for their lacklustre finishing when he converted from the spot shortly after the break - but substitute Darel Russell headed the hosts level with just over 15 minutes remaining. Cureton looked lively early on for the Canaries, shooting wide from just outside the area before hitting the bar from close range shortly after. Hoolahan then had the chance to break the deadlock against the team he joined Norwich from in the summer, but the midfielder failed to keep his shot down. Blackpool looked to make their hosts pay for their missed chances with Gary Taylor-Fletcher forcing Norwich goalkeeper David Marshall into action with a header before Adam Hammill struck wide from outside the area.

Norwich captain Mark Fotheringham then found Kennedy with an inswinging corner but the on-loan Celtic defender failed to get his header on target. The home side continued to fail to convert their chances with Cureton failing to get his shot away from inside the area before on-loan Fiorentina striker Lupoli missed from close range. Lupoli had the chance to make up for his miss shortly before the break but his volley from Hoolahan's cross was saved well by visiting goalkeeper Paul Rachubka. The Seasiders were handed the ideal chance when on-loan Fulham defender Elliot Omozusi brought down Hammill in the box and Burgess stepped up to slot home the resulting spot-kick in the 55th minute. Following a quiet spell the Canaries got their equaliser when Hoolahan's corner was nodded on by summer signing Dejan Stefanovic for Russell to head home in the 74th minute. Russell could have added to his substitute heroics but his strike was blocked by Blackpool defender Ian Evatt before Cureton was denied by Rachubka. Midfielder Russell had another chance for to give the Canaries all three points but Rob Edwards was on hand to deny block his strike before Hoolahan fired wide. Norwich will travel to Cardiff next Saturday, while Blackpool will host Sheffield United.
