Injury-time equaliser denies Getafe away win

Substitute Ismael Blanco scored deep in stoppage-time to secure AEK Athens a 1-1 draw at home to Getafe. A desperate first leg in the Uefa Cup last 32 tie only came to life in the closing stages when Blanco cancelled out Ruben de la Red's 86th minute goal for the visitors. Getafe, who topped Tottenham's group in the previous stage, had an early effort when AEK keeper Moretto saved from Francisco Casquero. Manu, on as a 78th minute substitute for Getafe, almost made an immediate impact when his shot was kept out by Moretto. The visitors grabbed the lead with four minutes to go when substitute De la Red drilled home left-footed from just inside the box. AEK had their first shot on target three minutes into injury-time when Mohamad Kallon tested Roberto Abbondanzieri and there was still time for Blanco to poach an equaliser. Blanco had only been introduced to the fray on 82 minutes and he latched on to Kallon's flick-on to fire past Abbondanzieri. The tie is now finely poised, with the winners going on to play either Benfica or Nurnberg in the last 16.
