Manchester City are playing the best football in Europe and some of the best the Premier League has ever seen, according to Jamie Carragher.
The runaway league leaders showed no signs of complacency, four days on from their triumph in the Carabao Cup final, as they thrashed Arsenal 3-0 for the second game running on Thursday evening.
Sensational first-half goals from Bernardo Silva, David Silva and Leroy Sane deepened the misery for Arsene Wenger's side after their defeat at Wembley, and Carragher was left in awe of City's "breathtaking" performance.
"What we saw tonight was the best football in Europe," the Sky Sports pundit said after the game.
"Whether City go on and win the Champions League remains to be seen, but the football they displayed against Arsenal was breathtaking.
"It's some of the best football I've ever seen in this league, and I've come up against some great sides."
City's stunning display saw them open up a formidable 16-point lead at the top of the Premier League, with their crowning as champions in record time now just five victories away.
And Carragher highlighted the unrelenting intensity of Pep Guardiola's champions-elect as a testament to his managerial philosophy.
"We criticised Arsenal for not being aggressive enough and said they couldn't win the league playing too much football," he added.
"City are winning it with that type of football, but there is greater intensity, that is the key thing. That first-half display was a testament to Pep Guardiola.
"You usually take your foot off the gas after winning a cup competition, but to perform like that shows why he's not just a manager who goes and buys the best players.
"The intensity he has shown at all the clubs he's managed shows he is a special, special manager."
