Xherdan Shaqiri is in contention to return for Stoke when the Potters visit Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Stoke winger returned to training on Thursday following a hamstring injury, but will be assessed by manager Mark Hughes before a final decision is made on his availability.

Leicester exited the FA Cup after their defeat by Tottenham in midweek, but they have lost just once in their last 13 league games at the King Power Stadium.

Team news

As well as Shaqiri, Hughes is also monitoring Marko Arnautovic's slight hamstring issue.

The Stoke boss will still be without Geoff Cameron (ankle) and Shay Given (knee) for what is the first of four away games for the Potters in quick succession, but Stephen Ireland, Marc Muniesa and Phil Bardsley are all fit for selection.

Ritchie De Laet (groin) is a Leicester doubt after pulling out of Wednesday's pre-match warm-up against Tottenham in the FA Cup, while Matty James (knee) and Jeffrey Schlupp (hamstring) continue their recoveries.

Opta stats

Stoke kept five clean sheets in their last eight league away trips, and the Potters have lost only three of their last 12 Premier League away games (W4 D5).

Bojan has opened the scoring in each of the last two league meetings between the Foxes and Stoke City.

Leicester have the lowest overall passing accuracy (69.6 per cent) and passing accuracy in the opposition half (62.6 per cent) so far this season.

The Foxes have won nine penalties in the league this season - the record in a single campaign is 13, set by Crystal Palace in the 2004-05 campaign.

Leicester are the only team yet to score a top-flight goal from outside the box this season, with all 39 of their goals coming from inside the area.

Riyad Mahrez has failed to score or assist a single goal in his last five league appearances and has missed two penalties during this period.

Merson's prediction

Leicester are a prime example of the effect of pressure on teams and players. Pressure strikes when you are at the top and you saw that with Mahrez, who missed two penalties in two big games that he would have rolled in earlier in the season.

If those had gone in, Leicester would have won and been four points clear at the top of the league. All Leicester had to do at the start of the season was stay up, now there's a different task and it appears the pressure has got to them.

This will be a good, open game. Stoke are a good side and will take the game to Leicester and I expect there to be goals.
