Paul Clement politely turned down the opportunity to join Sam Allardyce's coaching staff, citing his commitment to Bayern Munich.
The 42-year-old is servingd as assistant coach to Carlo Ancelotti's side after being sacked by Derby County as manager earlier this year.
Clement revealed that the FA had approached him for a job within the England coaching team but he did not believe he would be able to combine the role with his position in Germany.
"It is true the England team would have liked to have had me as assistant coach," Clement told Sport Bild. "There was an inquiry, and it is a huge honour.
"I thought about it but there is so much to do at Bayern that it is incompatible. That's why, after consulting with the team, I turned it down."
The only confirmed assistant to join the England staff so far is Sammy Lee, who previously worked under Allardyce at Bolton.
