Slovakia 0-0 England player ratings by Peter Taylor: Nathaniel Clyne and Gary Cahill impress

Jack Wilshire of England in action

Peter Taylor has given his player ratings after England's dominant but scoreless draw with Slovakia in Euro 2016 Group B.

The result means England finish second in the group, despite having 60 per cent of possession and 30 efforts on the Slovakia goal.

It was a new-look England side with six changes from the 2-1 win over Wales on Thursday, but one of those players who came in, Nathaniel Clyne, impressed former England caretaker manager Taylor.

Here, Taylor gives his marks for England's players out of 10...

Joe Hart - 7

There was not a lot to do for the Manchester City man, but the clean sheet gives him confidence after the Wales game.

Nathaniel Clyne - 9

The best player on the park. I thought he was terrific going forward, really positive with England having most of the ball, and paired that with some lovely passing.

Gary Cahill - 8

Both him and Chris Smalling did their jobs well. He was solid and stayed concentrated during the rare Slovakia attacks.

Chris Smalling - 7

The only thing stopping him getting an eight is the deft chest back to Hart after half-time which nearly let Slovakia in. Other than that, a good performance.

Ryan Bertrand - 7

He got forward and did alright, but most of it was coming down the right for England with Clyne.

Jordan Henderson - 6

He got very tired at the end, but he did OK. Perhaps I wanted to see a bit more quality on the ball going forward from him, but he got extremely tired.

Eric Dier - 7

He didn't do too much, but not too much wrong either and didn't give the ball away. He likes a shot from range and has confidence, and he is obviously key in that midfield role for England.

Jack Wilshere - 6

He looked good while he was on, but again couldn't do the 90 minutes for England. It was sometimes one step forward, one back for him. We'll definitely see him again.

Adam Lallana - 6

I thought he looked a touch tired today. He has put a lot of miles in, and did some nice things, but we need to see him over 90 minutes, and he has to start scoring some goals for England.

Jamie Vardy - 6

He had a great opportunity early on which he should have scored, but there weren't a lot of spaces for him to run into throughout the match. I didn't see a lot of him in the second half.

Daniel Sturridge - 6

I'm giving Sturridge a six too, because I think he comes too short and plays too deep. He doesn't get in that box enough, and that is where he is best.

Subs

Wayne Rooney - 6

He took a while to get into the game, which isn't what you need from a sub. His first three passes were wayward, but he did OK otherwise.

Dele Alli - 7

He had a chance to make it 1-0 after coming on and was unlucky, you can see he cleverly looked for the far corner but Martin Skrtel did brilliantly.

(Harry Kane - N/A)
