Jamie Redknapp believes Tottenham striker Harry Kane deserves parity with the Premier League's top earners.
Kane scored two in Spurs' 3-2 win over West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday to take his tally to six goals from his last four appearances in all competitions.
The forward signed a new Tottenham deal in 2016 that ties him to the club until 2022 but Redknapp says Spurs risk losing him if they don't offer improved terms.
They sold Kyle Walker to rivals Manchester City over the summer and former Tottenham mdifielder Redknapp believes similar could happen with Kane.
"Everything is there for him at Spurs," Redknapp told Sky Sports. "They have a great young team but it's a case of rewarding him. Make it right that he stays at Tottenham.
"Whatever the top player in the country is on, he should have parity. It's as simple as that.
"I think the cat is out of the bag now, everyone knows how much the top players are on. Kyle Walker will be telling his mates how much he's earning at Manchester City and that will be a problem."
Kane's brace at West Ham means he has 82 Premier League goals, 178 short of record-holder Alan Shearer.
Teddy Sheringham - Tottenham's Premier League record goalscorer with 92 goals - believes Kane has a chance to break Shearer's mark if he stays in the Premier League.
"There's been a lot of talk about that and if he stays fit and stays in the Premier League there's every chance he will," Sheringham told Sky Sports. "But he could go anywhere in the world.
"If he is not happy at Tottenham his agent will make it known and he will go wherever he wants to go, he's that good."
Kane's first-half double sent Spurs on their way and Christian Eriksen looked to have wrapped up the points on the hour mark before the Hammers hit back.
Javier Hernandez headed home after 65 minutes and Spurs right-back Serge Aurier was then sent off for a second bookable offence shortly after to make it a nervy finish.
Cheikhou Kouyate reduced West Ham's deficit further with three minutes remaining but Tottenham held on to extend their unbeaten run to six games in all competitions.
Kane told Sky Sports: "Yeah [it was a relief], obviously when you're 3-0 up in a game and you end up going to 3-2 it's always a bit nerve-racking, especially when you're down to 10 men.
"It is a fantastic result away from home, obviously going 3-0 up we would have liked to have seen it out a bit better, but a win is a win and we're delighted with it."
