Sweden stick with same squad for European Championship

Sweden have retained the same list of players they selected for Euro 2016 nearly three weeks ago, ahead of the deadline for finalising squad lists.

That means it will be between Marcus Berg and John Guidetti to compete for the place alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic in attack - with Berg currently the favourite to claim it.

Sweden coach Erik Hamren played Guidetti - formerly of Manchester City and Celtic and currently at Celta Vigo - against Slovenia on Monday.

He failed to score as the sides drew 0-0, with Berg now set to feature - probably alongside Ibrahimovic - in the final warm-up game against Wales on Sunday.

Hamren said: "I find that it works well with the two [Berg and Guidetti], even if I see Marcus Berg being a little bit ahead at the moment. Marcus was good at the end of the season in Greece and he scored."

The only uncertainty concerns midfielder Albin Ekdal, who hurt his back in a fall in a nightclub earlier this month.

The Hamburg player will miss at least the first Group E game against the Republic of Ireland on June 13 before later meetings with Italy on June 17 and Belgium on June 22.
