Czech Republic captain Tomas Rosicky will have to sit out the rest of Euro 2016 after suffering a thigh injury.

The 35-year-old former Arsenal man picked up the injury during Friday's 2-2 draw with Croatia, but he had to remain on the pitch because three substitutes had already been used.

And the Czech Republic announced on Saturday that scans have revealed that Rosicky has a tear in his thigh muscle.

The midfielder is to be sidelined for three to six weeks and will miss Tuesday's clash with Turkey, plus the remainder of the tournament should the Czech Republic qualify from Group D.

Team doctor Petr Zeman said of Rosicky: "For 100 percent he won't be able to play any game in the next few days, definitely not against Turkey.

"We think that he will not be able to play in any match in the weeks to come at this tournament."

The unfortunate Rosicky has been plagued by injuries of late and only managed six minutes of action during his final season with the Gunners.

Meanwhile, the Czech Republic remain alive in the tournament after they came from 2-0 down to secure a draw with Croatia but only have one point from their first two matches and probably need to beat Turkey if they are to progress.

Rosicky will remain in France with the rest of the squad and told www.uefa.com: "I felt that we needed to push for the three points (on Friday) so I pushed myself harder.

"I didn't have much strength left and I've paid for it unfortunately. Now my team-mates await a fantastic game with everything to play for against Turkey."
