Rangers will be looking to avoid an embarrassing Scottish Cup exit at the hands of Cowdenbeath when the pair clash on Wednesday evening.

The League Two club were due to face Steven Gerrard's side in the Scottish Cup fourth round on January 18 - only for the tie to be postponed due to a frozen pitch. Cowdenbeath will this week make their second attempt to ensure the Rangers clash goes ahead but have put down covers to ensure the game goes ahead.

Rangers will have to adapt to the unusual surroundings of a football stadium used for stock car racing.

Gerrard is aware of the challenge that awaits his team.

"It's a great fixture and we have respect for Cowdenbeath," he said.

"The stadium isn't going to change so we have to be professional and do our jobs.

"We need to forget who we're playing, where we're playing and go and produce a result and performance."

The big-name veteran pair have signed on loan from Southampton and Bournemouth respectively.

They made their debuts in the defeat by Kilmarnock but Gerrard is keen to get both up to full speed.

Connor Goldson still out injured (knee) while Graham Dorrans trained with the first team for first time this week since undergoing knee surgery in October.
