Napoli have urged their supporters to behave when they visit Liverpool in the Champions League this week.

The Serie A club have asked fans to be respectful and not to let off flares and smoke bombs inside Anfield on Wednesday night, as both sides look to secure qualification to the knockout stages.

Liverpool fans were attacked in Naples ahead of their opening Group E fixture in the city in September - with club chief executive Peter Moore tending to one injured man in hospital.

"Napoli invites all its supporters to comply with current security regulations, in line with UEFA rules, whose violation would result in penalties for the hosted club," Napoli said on Monday.

"Therefore, Neapolitan supporters are invited to contribute to the evening of sport in the respect of the serene climate and of the authentic passion of the Italian fans, to take vision of the regulation of use of the Anfield Road Stadium, to leave the stairs and all the other escape routes free and not to use smoke bombs, firecrackers and any other pyrotechnic material."

Manager Carlo Ancelotti has named his 18-man squad to travel to Merseyside - and both left-winger Lorenzo Insigne and left-back Fouzi Ghoulam are missing due to injury.

Ghoulam returned to training with the rest of the team on Monday along with Fabian Ruiz - who does travel - but will remain in Italy along with Insigne, who conducted training by himself.

Meanwhile, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is pushing ahead with fining his entire squad for pulling out of an organised training camp, described by Italian media as a "mutiny".

According to Sky in Italy, the disciplinary action is going through an arbitration panel consisting of a club representative, a player and a third party, as De Laurentiis looks to fine them 50 per cent of their monthly salaries.
