Boca Juniors are interested in signing Roma legend Daniele De Rossi when he becomes a free agent this summer.
Roma have not offered the veteran midfielder new terms and the former Italy international will bring the curtain down on his 18-year career at the Stadio Olimpico when Roma host Parma on May 26.
Boca's sporting director Nicolas Burdisso spent four-and-a-half seasons playing alongside De Rossi at Roma and the former Argentina international has revealed he now hopes to lure the World Cup winner to Buenos Aires.
"I think his [De Rossi's] future could be with us," Burdisso told Fox Sports Argentina.
"Even though at the moment it is more hope than reality, Daniele is a friend. I speak to him regularly and, for a player like him, our door is always open.
"Now, obviously I don't want to put too much pressure on him because I'm sure it will be very difficult for him to say goodbye to Roma."
De Rossi took over the captaincy of Roma from Francesco Totti, who is the only player to have bettered his tally of 615 appearances for the club.
