Tyrone Mings has joined Aston Villa on loan from Bournemouth until the end of the season.
Mings has made just seven appearances in all competitions for Bournemouth this season and Eddie Howe admitted, following Wednesday's 4-0 victory against Chelsea, the defender could leave the club.
A number of Championship clubs - including West Brom and Derby - were interested in the player, who arrived at the Vitality Stadium in 2015 from Ipswich for a then club-record £8m.
Mings says he is excited to test himself under Dean Smith's management.
"The two managers and their styles of play are quite similar," Mings told the club's website. "Stepping out of one environment and into a new one is quite difficult in itself but if you can go into two sides that play fairly similar football then that helps.
"The manager was a big part in my decision and I am looking forward to seeing how they are similar on the training pitch and also when we take it into games."
Villa are aiming for a return to the Premier League and Mings will provide competition in Smith's defence for the remainder of the Championship campaign.
