Indomitable Australia - Holding

Mikey's day three Video Blog was all about a "big, big cricket team" - and it's not England.

Michael Holding hailed a fantastic Australian side and another fantastic day for them in the skysports.com Ashes Video Blog for day three in Sydney.

Holding watched them get out of trouble with the bat and then turn the screw with the ball to leave England on the brink of Ashes humiliation.

Andrew Flintoff's side are just 12 runs ahead with only five wickets remaining and are faced with the unlikely prospect of batting for two days if they are to avoid the first whitewash since 1921.

England did not help themselves but for Holding, day three at the SGC underlined why the Australians are the best in the world.

"Once again Australia have found a way of digging themselves out of trouble," he told the skysports.com Ashes Vide Blog.

"The hole they were in wasn't that deep because they still had six wickets in hand, but when they lost Michael Hussey everyone thought England are back - not so.

"It was definitely a big, big wicket, but Australia are a big, big cricket team and they always find their way back into the game.

"Everyone thought England would have to go out there and bat well and try to match Australia's first innings score and then set them a target of about 250.

"The pitch was turning, we had seen a few balls misbehaving and batting last could have been a problem. It would have been interesting but again Australia hit England and hit England hard - and had them five down at the end of the day.

"Australia just kept doing what they do, rolling teams over. They are a fantastic cricket team and it was a fantastic day for them."
