Wayne Rooney says DC United exceeded expectations after finishing fourth in their conference and reaching the play-offs

Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have been included in the MLS Best XI for 2018.

The former Manchester United duo have been named in the team of the season after successful debut campaigns in the United States.

Former Arsenal midfielder Carlos Vela has also made the list.

Ibrahimovic joined the LA Galaxy from Manchester United in March and scored twice on his MLS debut against Los Angeles FC.

The 37-year-old scored 22 goals in 27 appearances this season but was unable to inspire the Galaxy to a play-off spot.

He will return to England on Monday ahead of his one-off return to international football against the United States.
