Roland Alberg scored a hat-trick as MLS Eastern Conference leaders Philadelphia Union secured a thrilling 4-3 win against Chicago Fire.
David Accam put Chicago ahead after two minutes but they were pegged back soon after when Alberg's shot came off a post and bounced off Jonathan Campbell and into the defender's own net.
Alberg benefited from another rebound to score his first in the 15th minute and added a second in first-half stoppage time.
He completed his treble 11 minutes into the second period, slotting in from the spot after Chris Pontius was fouled by Campbell.
Chicago pulled two goals back through Razvan Cocis and Khaly Thiam but it was not enough to avoid defeat.
Philadelphia extended their lead at the top of the East to four points as second-placed New York Red Bulls lost 2-1 against Real Salt Lake.
Gideon Baah gave New York a seventh-minute lead but Yura Movsisyan equalised midway through the second half before Jordan Allen struck the winner with three minutes left.
The Red Bulls ended the game with 10 men as Aurelien Collin was sent off in stoppage time for violent conduct.
In the day's other game, Los Angeles Galaxy and Colorado Rapids played out a goalless draw.
