The New England Revolution recorded their first win of the MLS season after beating the New York Red Bulls 1-0 on Friday evening.

Uruguay forward Diego Fagundez scored the home side's winner 10 minutes after the break, before the Red Bulls had defender Felipe Martins sent off six minutes later.

The Revolution went into the game having drawn three of their opening four encounters and they broke the deadlock after 55 minutes when Fagundez tucked home Juan Agudelo's cross.

However, there was an element of controversy about the Revolution's winner as the visitors had Jamaica international defender Kemar Lawrence injured on the pitch in the build-up to the goal.

And things went from bad to worse for the Red Bulls when Martins saw red just past the hour-mark after a nasty-looking tackle.

As a result, the Red Bulls then found it hard to create any real chances to get back into the contest.
