Charlie Nicholas provides us with his Capital One Cup semi-final second-leg predictions, as Manchester City or Everton look to join Liverpool at Wembley.

Roberto Martinez's side take a 2-1 advantage with them to the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night so can they hang on and set up a Merseyside derby?

Here's what Charlie is forecasting for the second semi-final...

Manchester City v Everton (live on Sky Sports 1 HD, Wednesday from 7pm)

An all-Merseyside final would obviously be great but, just like their neighbours, there's too many defensive problems with this Everton team.

They are exciting to watch, but they're just so vulnerable at the back. Everyone is talking up John Stones and he is a great footballer, but he's also susceptible to mistakes.

Those issues and Sergio Aguero being back in form leads me to believe City will be able to break them down enough times to overturn this deficit.

I do think City to win and both teams to score is a stonking bet at 13/8, given both have problems at the back, with Manuel Pellegrini's men possessing more firepower.

Charlie predicts: 3-1 (10/1 with Sky Bet)

Liverpool v Stoke

With Liverpool's defensive problems, I think this tie is anything but over. They are obviously buoyed by scoring again, but what does Jurgen Klopp do now? Regardless of which line-up he picks, I can still see all sorts of problems with this side.

I don't think Stoke can play anywhere as badly as they did at the weekend and they actually rested a few players, so I wouldn't read anything into that result.

Agree with Charlie? Follow his 9/1 double for Man City and Stoke to qualify here.

They will be thinking they let themselves down in the first leg, but why not go to Anfield and take them on? They've got as much quality and, despite the blow of Ryan Shawcross being out, they can cause problems from set-pieces, which Liverpool just cannot defend right now.

When I was looking for value when picking out my bets for the match, I was amazed to see Stoke at 5/1 to qualify and I think that's a fantastic price.

I wouldn't be surprised to see this go the distance and I'm actually going for Stoke to go through on away goals after extra time.

Charlie predicts: 1-2 and Stoke to qualify in extra time (33/1 with Sky Bet)

RESULT: Liverpool 0-1 Stoke (1-1 agg; Liverpool win 6-5 on pens)
