Arda Turan and Javier Mascherano could return for Barcelona when they host Sporting Gijon live on Sky Sports 2 HD on Wednesday.

Luis Enrique's side kept the pressure on La Liga leaders Real Madrid with a 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon last weekend.

Barca, who remain a point behind Real having played a game more, may be boosted by the return from injury of Turan and Mascherano.

The Turkey international has been missing with a groin problem while Mascherano has been absent since February 7 with a hamstring injury.

"Mascherano and Arda have trained with the rest of the squad today and tomorrow [Wednesday] the medical staff will confirm if they are available or not," Enrique told reporters.

Barca face back-to-back home league matches with Celta Vigo to come on Saturday, before they return to Champions League action 4-0 down to Paris Saint-Germain from their last-16, first leg.

Sporting, who appointed former Barca coach Rubi in January and currently sit in the relegation zone, are the immediate challenge and Enrique expects a difficult match.

"Sporting have changed tactically all over the field and now perhaps they are more attacking," he added.

"They are a dangerous side, as are all the sides down the bottom of the table because time is running out in the battle against relegation."

After Real Madrid were awarded a penalty against Villarreal, Barcelona's Gerard Pique took to Twitter to question four different refereeing decisions

The Barcelona coach was born in Gijon and started his career at the club but says he will put emotion to one side when they visit the Nou Camp.

"I have been a Sporting fan since the day I was born and I always wish them the best, but tomorrow I want all three points," Enrique continued.

Rubi has admitted he remains concerned about his defensive options owing to the suspension of Jorge Mere and Fernando Amorebieta being one booking away from a ban.

Asked how to stop Barcelona, he told Gijon's official club website: "With detail, forcing them into situations unusual for them, with sacrifice, and being strong in defence.

"We must be aware that losing the ball unnecessarily can lead straight to a goal.

"We will go there in search of points and I want my team in the game for 90 minutes."
