Lionel Messi has admitted time is running out for him to win a trophy with Argentina.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has lifted every major club trophy with Barcelona but has found himself on the losing side in three finals with his national team.
He could put that right on Sunday night when Argentina play holders Chile in the Copa America final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Speaking after Argentina's comprehensive 4-0 semi-final victory over the USA, Messi said he did not know if he would ever be in a better position to end his duck.
"I don't know if it is my last opportunity [to win a trophy with Argentina], but we have to take advantage of it and take this cup by any means," Messi said.
"It is the fourth final that I've played with the national team and I'd like to change the story some day and to become champion."
Argentina ran out comfortable winners over the USA thanks to goals from Ezequiel Lavezzi, Gonzalo Higuain and Messi, whose trademark free-kick in the 32nd minute put him ahead of Gabriel Batistuta as Argentina's all-time record goalscorer with 55.
Chile, who beat Argentina in the Copa America final last year, await them after goals from Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Charles Aranguiz and Jose Pedro Fuenzalida were enough to defeat Colombia 2-0.
Messi believes Argentina have become a more formidable unit following their previous failures.
"It's been almost a year since the last Copa America, and I think that made us stronger as a group, and as a team," he added.
"We grew a lot, in a lot of ways, and above all, even though we didn't win, it helped us."
