Didier Deschamps believes Anthony Martial has silenced his critics in France with his explosive start to life at Manchester United.

The France head coach has called-up Martial to his squad for the second time this month, after handing him his senior international debut in a friendly against Portugal in September.

Martial's potential future in the national team has had its doubters across the channel, despite the 19-year-old scoring 12 goals for Monaco last term.

But ahead of two further internationals against Armenia and Denmark, Deschamps said: "He has proved his critics wrong with his performances and with the goals he managed to score.

"He still has steps to take in his development. It changed his world moving to Manchester United this summer.

"But Anthony joined us because I think he has a lot of potential. He is not very outspoken but it does not bother me with players who just joined the national team, it is often like that."

Jamie Redknapp believes Anthony Martial is the best 19-year-old he's seen since Lionel Messi broke onto the scene over 10 years ago.

France host Armenia in Nice before a trip to Denmark in two further warm-up games before they host next year's European Championships.
