Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink admits he is unsure if striker Diego Costa will be fit for next month's European Championship finals.

The Brazil-born forward missed Wednesday's 1-1 Premier League draw at Liverpool with a hamstring injury and will not be back for Sunday's final game of the season at home to champions Leicester City.

"He needs a good rest and with training he might be fit for the Euros but I'm not sure," Hiddink said.

Spain coach Vicente del Bosque will name his initial 23-man squad on Tuesday, with the option to make changes by May 31.

The European champions have been drawn in Group D with Croatia, the Czech Republic and Turkey at the finals, which run from June 10-July 10 in France.

Hiddink, conducting his final pre-match conference at the club ahead of hosting Leicester on Sunday, was asked to reflect on his second spell as Chelsea manager.

Guus Hiddink is unsure if captain John Terry will sign a new one-year contract offered by the club

"I will be emotional on Sunday because in the two spells here the passion towards football was already there, but the affection for the club has grown," added the Dutchman.

"The recent memory of playing at Anfield was a pleasant one because the team played as I love them to. That's the way Chelsea can play and should play.

"Of course after the escape from near the relegation zone I would have loved to reach the FA Cup final and go one or two games further in the Champions League but we couldn't fulfil that. But I'm happy with the last half-year, I did it with a lot of joy.

"We must face facts; by Chelsea's standards it's been a season with exception. It's not enough for Chelsea. It's now relatively quiet at the club but we have to go on and be competitive next season."
