Jerome Boateng issues criticism of Germany's attackers after drab draw

Jerome Boateng's family will not be travelling to France to watch him at Euro 2016 due to terror fears

German defender Jerome Boateng was critical of his more attack-minded team-mates after the world champions were held to a 0-0 draw with Poland at Euro 2016 on Thursday.

Bayern Munich's Boateng kept club team-mate and Polish star Robert Lewandowski in check, but his strikers struggled to land a blow as Germany failed to score for first time in 15 games at a major finals.

However, despite Germany being on course to reach the last 16 with four points from two games, he warned they need a more cutting edge up front.

"We didn't win any one-on-ones up front and the movement [in front of goal] was missing," he told ZDF.

"We need to be pleased with a 0-0 draw. We must improve our finishing, we play well until the last third, then we can't get past our opponent and aren't dangerous.
