Bastian Schweinsteiger insists he is not ready to play a full 90 minutes for Germany after his goalscoring cameo helped Joachim Low's side to a 2-0 win over Ukraine in their Euro 2016 opener.
Shkodran Mustafi had put Germany ahead in the first half but with Ukraine pushing for an equaliser in the closing stages, Low sent on Schweinsteiger to see the game out.
The Manchester United midfielder made the game safe in injury time, sprinting the length of the pitch to get on the end of Mesut Ozil's cross to round off the scoring and secure all three points for the world champions.
"It's just incredible," Schweinsteiger said after his side's Group C victory.
"After all the injuries something like this happens. I can't play 90 or 120 minutes yet but I'm feeling like I can play.
"I feel really good. I think if I stay healthy I'll be able to play. I hope I can play some more."
And Schweinsteiger, who only made his comeback from a long-term injury in his country's last warm-up game before the finals, revealed he was still out of breath after scoring his first goal for Germany since 2011.
"I ran so hard in the celebrations that I'm a bit out of breath still," the Manchester United midfielder told ARD.
"It was amazing for that to happen, it's the kind of thing you can only wish for, but the most important thing is the team wins."
Low sent Schweinsteiger on in the 90th minute and revealed after the game that the midfielder had not quite performed according to the coach's script.
"It wasn't really the plan that Bastian was going to surface so far forward," he explained.
"We sent him on to try to calm things down."
