Wolves defender Matt Doherty has withdrawn from Republic of Ireland's squad to face Northern Ireland and Denmark because of a facial injury.

The full-back had seen a specialist regarding the injury he suffered during the 1-1 draw at Arsenal on Sunday.

Doherty, who has featured in all of Wolves' 12 Premier League games so far this season, did not train with the Republic of Ireland squad on Tuesday.

They play Northern Ireland in a friendly on Thursday before the UEFA Nations League clash with Denmark next Monday. Both matches are live on Sky Sports.

Shane Long and Derrick Williams have already withdrawn from the squad due to injury.

Seamus Coleman is back in the Ireland set-up after missing their last three matches.
