The Republic of Ireland were handed a boost on Friday when defenders Seamus Coleman and John O'Shea trained ahead of Monday's World Cup qualifier in Serbia.
Coleman has not kicked a ball for Everton this season because of an ankle injury, while O'Shea limped off with a hip problem during Sunderland's defeat by Middlesbrough on August 21.
Coleman reported with the rest of the squad last weekend and is confident of being fit for the game in Belgrade.
O'Shea, meanwhile, remained on Wearside for treatment, before meeting his international colleagues on Wednesday when he watched Robbie Keane make his final appearance in Ireland colours against Oman.
The news that the pair could be fit is all the more welcome for manager Martin O'Neill after midfielder James McCarthy was forced to leave the Irish camp and return to Everton with a hip problem.
