England, Wales and Northern Ireland are through to Euro 2016 - but can Republic of Ireland join them via the play-offs?

Defeat to Poland in Warsaw ended Martin O'Neill's side's hopes of automatic qualification for Euro 2016 but they have another chance to make it to France next summer.

Now that all the qualifying groups have been settled, here's what's in store... 

Who could Ireland face in the play-offs?

Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Norway, Denmark, Slovenia, Ukraine and Sweden are the other seven countries to have made it into the play-offs.

Seamus Coleman says Republic of Ireland will pick themselves back up so they can qualify through the play-offs for Euro 2016.

However, the eight teams in the draw for the play-offs will be seeded into two groups, determined by their standing in the UEFA National Team Coefficients Ranking.

And following Tuesday night's final round of Euro 2016 qualifiers, Martin O'Neill's side now know that they will face either Ukraine, Sweden, Bosnia or Hungary in a two-legged play-off tie in November.

When will the play-off draw be made?

The play-off draw will then take place in Nyon on Sunday, October 18 at 10.15am.

Seeded teams will play non-seeded teams and the first team drawn will play the first leg at home.

When will the play-offs take place?

First legs will be played on November 12/13/14, 2015.

Second legs will be played on November 15/16/17, 2015.

The teams which score the greater aggregate of goals in each tie will qualify for the finals, with away goals and then penalties used to determine the winner in the event of a draw.

When is the draw for Euro 2016?

Should Ireland progress, they will be in the Euro 2016 tournament draw on December 12 in Paris.

Teams will be seeded into four pots and drawn into six groups of four. The top two in each plus the four best third-placed teams will advance to the knockout phase.

When does Euro 2016 take place?

The finals will take place between June 10 and July 10 2016.
