Ryan McBride will be honoured with a minute's applause before Northern Ireland's World Cup Qualifier against Norway on Sunday.

Derry City's captain was found dead at the weekend at the age of 27, hours after leading his side to victory in a League of Ireland game against Drogheda.

McBride's former Derry team-mate Daniel Lafferty is in the Northern Ireland squad, while Michael O'Neill encountered the centre-half during his time as Shamrock Rovers manager.

"It was shocking when I heard the news on Sunday night," O'Neill said. "It was hard to believe and I believe it will be nice to remember Ryan with the gesture of a minute's applause before Sunday's game.

"I was still managing in the League of Ireland when Ryan made his debut and you could see straight away he was a hometown boy playing for his hometown club.
