Gareth Bale will miss Wales' UEFA Nations League match against Republic of Ireland on Tuesday with a groin injury, and has returned to Real Madrid.
Wales posted a statement on their Twitter account on Sunday, which read: "Gareth Bale has returned to his club this afternoon and will not travel to Dublin with the rest of the squad."
Bale, who has missed games for Real Madrid in recent weeks due to the problem, sat out Wales training on Sunday after being sidelined for Thursday's 4-1 defeat by Spain.
Ipswich winger Gwion Edwards was called up by Wales on Friday as cover for Bale.
Meanwhile, Sheffield United defender Kieron Freeman has also been brought in with doubts surrounding the fitness of Ethan Ampadu and Chris Mepham.
Both Edwards and Freeman, who have played at U19 and U21 level for Wales, are yet to make an appearance for the senior side.
Wales currently sit second in Group B having thrashed Martin O'Neill's Republic of Ireland 4-1 in their opening game before falling to a 2-0 defeat against Denmark.
