Chris Coleman says his side's patience paid off as two late goals gave Wales all three points against Moldova to keep them in the mix for a World Cup place

Chris Coleman savoured a tense 2-0 win over Moldova on Tuesday and looked ahead to Wales' final World Cup Qualifiers with the message "bring it on".

It took until the last 10 minutes, and the introduction of rising star Ben Woodburn, for Wales to break down stubborn opposition and leapfrog the Republic of Ireland - beaten 1-0 by 10-man Serbia - for second place in Group D.

The Liverpool youngster, who scored on his international debut last Saturday to beat Austria, this time crossed for Hal Robson-Kanu to head Wales in front before Aaron Ramsey's deflected strike in injury time sealed a 2-0 win.

Coleman told Sky Sports: "It was a good win. It wasn't our best performance in terms of 90 minutes, we had to be patient but everything we asked of the boys, they did.

"We thought there could be a late goal in it and again, young Ben, a good cross, Hal Robson-Kanu puts it in the back of the net - fantastic.

"Then we got nervous, they attacked and could have got one back, but then 'Rambo' goes down the other end and finishes it off."

Tuesday's results take Coleman's men one point ahead of the Republic of Ireland, their opponents in their final qualifier next month following a trip to Georgia, and four behind group leaders Serbia.

"They were good results for us tonight, with Serbia beating Ireland - Serbia are in the driving seat but we've got to finish off next month the same as these two games and then you don't know," Coleman added.

"Away to Georgia, it doesn't come much tougher but bring it on. We need to make sure we take the 'red wall' with us and we're going to have to be a bit better in terms of our all-round play."
