Chris Coleman says his Wales players "absolutely love" playing in front of their home fans following their 4-0 win over Moldova in Cardiff.
Wales got all three points in their first match back from their heroics at Euro 2016, Gareth Bale's double adding to goals from Sam Vokes and an international first for Joe Allen.
There was a fine atmosphere all evening at the Cardiff City Stadium, and Coleman said it was vital to get off to a winning start against lesser opposition.
Coleman told Sky Sports: "The supporters were brilliant, an absolutely amazing atmosphere. The guys absolutely love playing here when it's like that.
"We could have scored more. It's only three points, but the first win is also important. It was so important we got off to a good start in the campaign, like we did in the last one.
"It was going to be tough tonight, we knew that, we had to be patient and disciplined, and we did all that. I thought we did it with a good level of professionalism."
Wales were laboured in the early stages against a resolute Moldova, who are ranked 165th in the world, but Coleman insisted he has faith in his side to get the first goal and kick on from there.
"After half an hour I wasn't really that anxious. Had we come in at half-time 0-0, I may have changed it around tactically, to try and pose different questions, but once we got the goal, they had to come and attack us more and it left us more space to exploit.
"Had this been against Republic of Ireland, or Serbia, or Austria, it may have been a different feeling. I know we're expected to beat Moldova, but we still had to do go and do the job."
Real Madrid forward Bale is enjoying a fine start to the campaign, and insists Wales are learning to cope with being favourites in games.
"We know these games are very difficult, we've played teams like this before and they're difficult to break down.
"I think we're learning to cope with teams playing better against us, we're growing with the team. We enjoy the past, but that's history now, and it's time to make some more."
