Wales forward Gareth Bale looks ahead to the round of 16 match with Northern Ireland in Paris

Gareth Bale says the pressure is off Wales as the players prepare for the next chapter in their remarkable adventure.

Chris Coleman's side take on Northern Ireland in the last 16 of Euro 2016 on Saturday after topping Group B with two wins, capped by the 3-0 victory over Russia.

Finishing above England also means Wales are now in what is considered the easier half of the draw, avoiding France, Germany, Spain, Italy and England until the final.

And Bale says the team are enjoying their stay in France, forever mindful of the low points the group have experienced together.

"It's an amazing feeling we've got in the camp," he said. "It's not just been the last two years we've been working towards, but since we all started, young boys growing into men.

"We've all been together and come through a massive journey and we've been to some bad places. We've been ranked 112 in the world and now we're in the last 16 of the Euros, so these days are to be enjoyed and we're taking it all in our stride."

Next up for Wales is a clash with Northern Ireland and with Premier League referee Martin Atkinson to take charge of the game, Bale expects it to have a familiar feel.

"We know it's going to be difficult, We obviously know a lot about Northern Ireland," he added. "A lot of their players play in England so they are going to know us also.

"It will be a very British type game and if we can match the performance of Russia, we have a very good chance.

"Confidence is high after a great performance and victory against Russia. We're all excited again. It's another new challenge and experience and one I'm sure everyone will relish."
