Jack Hendry has all the attributes to be a Scotland international for years to come, according to Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has tipped Jack Hendry to be a mainstay in the Scotland side after the defender impressed on his international debut against Hungary.

Hendry, who joined Celtic from Dundee on Deadline Day in January, started in Scotland's 1-0 win in Budapest on Tuesday.

Rodgers says the 22-year-old has plenty of self-belief and has backed the young centre-back to continue progressing to the highest level.

"Jack came in from Dundee and settled in very well. He has the qualities to play for Celtic and the international team for the next 10 years or so.

"His profile suits the highest level. He is quick, first and foremost, he can defend and in international football it is important that you can deal with the ball and I think you saw his comfort.

"For a player making his first appearance away from home on the international stage, he was very composed and looked as if he had played a lot more games than what he had done.

"He has got a real belief in his ability and that is not arrogance. He just knows he is a really good player who has more to improve on.
