Scotland players have re-energised the nation, says Gordon Strachan, who also claimed Stuart Armstrong's debut was the "best ever" for the country.
The Celtic midfielder set up Chris Martin for the 89th-minute winner during the crucial World Cup qualifying match with Slovenia in Group F.
Scotland's manager was full of praise for the 24-year-old and after saying his players re-energise him, he added that they have now done so to the nation.
"I'm very proud, it wasn't easy," Strachan told Sky Sports following the match. "I'm really delighted for them all, everybody in the squad including the guys who were injured and stayed on to watch.
"Considering the pressure they were under, they really should be proud of themselves tonight. They have re-energised the nation. If you want to join us, you're welcome.
"We've got ourselves back in contention and we look forward to the next game. We take a lot of things from tonight and I've got to say, Stuart Armstrong could be the best Scottish debut I've ever seen."
After a lacklustre performance in a friendly against Canada on Thursday, Strachan were adamant his team had to improve and looked like a much more competitive side at Hampden Park.
However, the work is not over yet for Scotland, and the former Manchester United midfielder says he knows where he would like to put in more work.
"We've got certain areas we can build on and the players in the other positions played fantastically this evening knowing that they were under pressure as well," he added.
